When Apple unveiled iOS 5, we couldn't help but notice many of the new features have been around on Android for awhile now.
We put together all the features iOS 5 is getting that Android already has.
Notifications appear at a bar at the top
This is perhaps the most blatant copy. Android notifications have appeared in the top bar of the OS since version the beginning. Now Apple has finally added the same thing to iOS 5's notifications system.
Wireless syncing
Android phones have been able to sync wirelessly with the help of some third-party apps. Apple wouldn't allow such apps in the App Store, so it took until now for it to finally add the feature.
Tabbed browsing
Android Honeycomb for tablets had tabbed browsing when it launched on the Xoom in February. Plus a bunch of other alternative browsers for iPhone or iPad allowed the same thing. Now, Apple's own Safari allows for tabbed browsing.
New split keyboard
Android users have been able to customize their keyboard configuration thanks to some great developers. Now Apple allows for a customized split keyboard on iPhone that makes typing in portrait mode a lot easier.
Open apps from the lock screen
Now that iOS 5 displays notifications on the lock screen, you can swipe them to unlock the phone directly into the app. This is nothing new for Android users who have HTC phones. The new Sense skin will allow you to open your favorite apps directly from the lock screen.
Over the air updates
Almost all Android phones are able to receive updates over the air without syncing to a computer. Until now, Apple required you to sync with iTunes before you could upgrade to the next version of iOS.
